Birds of the Rainforest
1 Day Event
Cost: £135
What's included: entrance fee, refreshments, tutorial, lunch,
all day shoot with 1:1 help and a welcome pack
Outline:
The Tropical Bird Gardens at Desford was first set-up in 1984 by
Richard Hopper who is well known for his breeding of Hornbills and
supporting birds which would otherwise may have been abandoned.
He is also famed for his free-flying Macaws that fill the sky around
the centre and immediate area every day. It's our perfect venue
for teaching the skills of wild bird photography.
In our giant 'invisible' hide you'll be able to shoot breathtaking
images of Red Whiskered Bulbul, Weaver, Toucan, Rock and
White Crested Laughing Thrush, Bourke Parakeet, spectacular
Glossy Starlings and Turaco's.
Everything at the centre is made to be as natural as possible,
there are leafy backgrounds, small ponds, babbling brooks to
make the most of every species of bird.
You'll be able to capture them with mouthfuls of wriggling
grubs, bathing and building nests, freely and without shooting
through wire or glass.
You will not need a very large telephoto, a medium or standard
zoom will be all that you'll need.
Also at Desford there are many species of Macaw including
Hyacinth, Military and Scarlet which are not tethered and are
free flying which allows us to photograph them in flight, perched
in trees or on branches in front of you.
Help will be given to assist you with the camera settings and
making the most of the day. It will give you valuable practise
for that special trip you may have planned and a chance to
get all your wildlife questions answered.
Tuition is given throughout the day in small groups.
It's the perfect event for which to learn wild bird photography
and is ideal for beginners or experienced photographers.
