The Post Mill at Pitstone circa. 1627 the oldest in Great Britain is located in a unique
position. It is in the centre of a ploughed field with deep earth furrows, creating
tremendous depth to your images. Additionally, at late afternoon as a stroke of perfection,
the sun falls behind the sails creating dramatic flares of light contrasting with the setting sky.
On this event we'll teach you the skills of landscape and composition and use the
TASS principle, which represents tone, arrangement, sharpness and scale. We'll help you
set up your camera settings that wil give you the best result, including, white balance, RAW,
histogram and picture styles.
The optimum aperture, focusing distance and a discussion on the use of hyperfocal distance
will be explained and 1:1 help provided throughout the day.
In contrast the Windmill at Brill built in the 1680's is situated on the top of a
disused quarry. This gives it an excellent position and allows the windmill to be
photographed at many different angles and quite spectacularly from below. We'll
show you which lenses to use to create dramatic perspective and the difference
it can make to your shots.
This event is designed to help you master the techniques of landscape and improve your
composition. Its also perfect for learning about shooting sunsets and silhouettes.
